Testing Standards
ASTM & UL Standards Met
ASTM F3325-20 · Canada
Standard Specification for Leg-Protective Devices for Chainsaw Users
Specifies performance requirements for leg-protective devices worn by chainsaw operators, including cut-resistance classifications, labelling, and test methods. The PC4501 meets the requirements for Class A protection.
✔ Class A Leg Protection
ASTM F1414-19(2023) · USA
Standard Test Method for Measurement of Cut Resistance to Chainsaw in Lower Body (Legs) Protective Clothing
Measures the ability of protective leg garments to resist chainsaw cuts by evaluating deceleration time and depth-of-cut when a moving chainsaw contacts the protective material — the critical performance metric for lower body chainsaw PPE.
✔ Chainsaw Cut Resistance — Lower Body
ASTM F1897-25 · USA
Standard Specification for Leg Protection for Chain Saw Users
ASTM's specification for leg protection for chain saw users, used in the USA. UL testing confirms the PC4501 meets its requirements for leg protection from chainsaw contact.
✔ ASTM Leg Protection Standard
ASTM F3324-19(2023) · Canada
Standard Test Method for Measurement of Cut Resistance to Chainsaw in Leg Protective Devices
This test measures the cut resistance of leg protective devices by evaluating the stopping performance of the material when contacted by a moving chainsaw — providing a standardized benchmark for chainsaw leg protection performance.

What These Certifications Cover
The UL certification and the ASTM standards above cover chainsaw leg protection. The flame resistance of the PC4501 comes from its materials: the outer fabric, lining and accessories (thread, zipper, reflective bands, hook-and-loop and labels) are all FR. The protective pad is a 50/50 Kevlar®/polyester blend, which is why we do not describe the pant as 100% FR — the pad is fully encapsulated between two layers of FR lining and double-stitched to the FR outer fabric with FR thread.
